Reports to: Pro Shop Manager and or Manager on Duty (MOD)

Works With: Assistant Golf Professional, Pro Shop Attendants, Golf Operations Team, Canteen Attendant(s), Beverage Cart Attendant(s)

While this outline attempts to be all encompassing, this position is expected to evolve beyond these categories. This role is expected to anticipate customer needs and make suggestions for improvement of the day-to-day operation on an ongoing basis. The role is expected to do anything and everything that will help the golf department accomplish its objectives.

GENERAL PURPOSE: The Golf Course Ambassador fulfills the Mill River/Eagles Glenn golf experience by ensuring an acceptable pace of play, resolving any guest problems that occur on the golf course and assisting our guests in any other way possible.

EXPECTATIONS OF OUR TEAM MEMBER:

  • To have a thorough understanding of our department’s minimum standards for service
  • Pace of play matrix.
  • Environmental sensitive areas.
  • Golf course etiquette.
  • Course rules.
  • Mill River/Eagles Glenn Ambassador handbook.
  • First Aid and CPR.
  • Radio communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Greet all guests that you encounter by saying hello and making eye contact. If from a distance, a gentle wave.
  • Record pace of play for each group and keep notes of all slow groups.
  • Tactfully address groups that may be falling behind pace.
  • Provide assistance if group appears receptive to offer of help.
  • In the event that a group is not co-operative with pace of play then:
    • Offer a first warning.
    • Offer a second warning along with the consequence of being moved upon third warning.
    • Move group appropriately for third warning.
    • A fourth warning should be taken care of by MOD.
  • Communicate with MOD regarding pace of play on a regular basis.
  • Communicate with MOD regarding course conditions that may adversely affect the pace of play, or adversely affect the golfer’s enjoyment of their game.
  • Monitor conditions of washrooms and wastebaskets and clean when necessary.
  • Empty on course wastebaskets when required, to maintain a respectable and tidy appearance.
  • Assist guests in locating misplaced golf clubs.
  • Fill divots on par 3 tee decks and repair ball marks on greens as time allows.
  • Other duties as assigned by the MOD.

COMPLETION OF SHIFT DUTIES:

  • Inform the Proshop where the remaining golfers are on the course.
  • Check with the MOD to see if you can leave the course.
  • After the golf course has been checked, confirm that all necessary duties are complete with the MOD.
  • Return radio to charger along with all extra supplies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently sits, occasionally walks, talks and listens. Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds.

ENVIRONMENT/NOISE: Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions including rain and or warm conditions, exposure to sunlight.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Responsible Beverage Training Certification & First Aid.

POSITION KPI’s

  • Consistently keeping the overall pace of play at or below the course time par.
  • Keeping detailed records of each day with time par checkpoints, cart #’s and group acknowledgments.
  • Follow a schedule and record which tee decks have been filled with divot mix and which greens have had ball marks repaired.
