Team Member: 1st Tee Starter

Department: Golf Operations

Reports to: Golf Operations Manager and or Manager on Duty (MOD)

Works With: Assistant Golf Professional, Pro Shop Attendants, Golf Operations Team

While this outline attempts to be all encompassing, this position is expected to evolve beyond these categories. This role is expected to anticipate customer needs and make suggestions for improvement of the day-to-day operation on an ongoing basis. The role is expected to do anything and everything that will help the Golf Operations department accomplish its objectives.

GENERAL PURPOSE: To ensure that guests enjoy the Mill River/Eagles Glenn experience by ensuring that they are welcomed to the first tee, begin their game at the assigned time and informed of all necessary information.

EXPECTATIONS OF OUR TEAM MEMBER:

  • Know our customer service philosophy, our department’s minimum standards and the department’s designed guest experience.   
  • The club’s facilities.
  • Course rules.
  • Knowledge of on course food & beverage options.
  • Environmental sensitive areas.   
  • Golf course etiquette.
  • Radio communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Welcome and inquire guest’s names and start time.
  • Inform the Proshop Attendant on duty by radio of the arrival of the group to the tee.
  • Ensure that each guest arrives at the first tee on time.
  • If time permits, ask the group if they want their picture taken.
  • On the first tee, give your guests the necessary information such as pace of play policy, cart access rule for the day, local rules, pin placements, washroom locations.
  • When required, pair up groups to assist with pace and flow of the course.
  • Ensure that no more than two golf carts are in each group.
  • Be certain that each group tees off on time exactly, ten minutes apart from the previous group.
  • The group ahead should have all golf balls in play on the green as the group on the tee is starting.
  • As the group leaves the tee, document their starting time.
  • Inform the Proshop Attendant that you are ready to receive your next group.
  • Maintain all supplies and general tidiness at the first tee and starter hut.
  • Ensure that all carts are stocked with the necessary supplies before they leave the tee.
  • Other duties as assigned by the MOD.

COMPLETION OF SHIFT DUTIES:

  • Check with the MOD to see if you can leave the course.
  • Ensure that the starter hut is clean and ready for the following day.
  • Confirm that all necessary duties are complete with the MOD.
  • Return radio & tablet to the Proshop and set them on the charger.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently sits, occasionally walks, talks and listens.

ENVIRONMENT/NOISE: Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions including rain and or warm conditions, exposure to sunlight.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: First Aid.

POSITION KPI’s

  • Consistently keeping the overall pace of play at or below the course time par by starting groups on time.
  • Keeping detailed records of each day with cart #’s, start times and finish times.
  • Record the number of group pictures taken on the 1st tee.
